Gone too soon...

"Look past the NEGATIVITY! Michael Jackson brought "us" to mainstream TV in the early 80's; he inspired a GENERATION of musicians today. He was the worlds artist! He will be missed! RIP Michael Jackson" - ME

Earlier this morning, a good friend emailed me and asked "Brian, do you still blog?". I've been meaning to, but never could find the time. If she would of told me i'd be blogging about the death of an Generational Icon...I wouldn't have believed her. If she would of told me I would be blogging about a man whom I've never met but tried every dance move you seen him do; I wouldn't of believed her.

But here I am, sitting down on my couch, thinking about the man whom broke the color barrier for music videos. The man who captured hearts around the world. I dare to say he was the most famous man in the world. I dare to say that he was the greatest performer ever to grace this earth. I dare to say that your parents and probably yourselfs own (or will) a copy of Thriller.

I dare to say that the media will not see the bright spots in his life, but dwell on the dark. The court cases (which he was found not guilty), the skin disorder that has affected other people in the world, the plastic surgery, the hiding of his kids, his family fights, his acquired taste in having the one thing in the world that he couldn't get back....his childhood.

Michael means alot not only to me, but 80's children. We tried to do the moonwalk, we tried to do the "Smooth Criminal" lean, we tried to sing the songs and we 'so nuff did the crotch grab (LOL). He made songs that lifted the world, "We are the world", "Man in the mirror"; He had some of the best music videos ever "Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Scream"; he sang for Presidents (Clinton, Bush, Reagan); he held MILLIONS around the world, not with just his money, but Michael, Michael himself brought people to cry just by looking at them.

I am sadden by the WORLD'S lost today, we will never have another King of Pop. I am sadden for the next couple of days of the humorless jokes that will be said from those who don't value this man's work. I am sad that I assume the media will skip the good and harp on the dark.

Rest in Peace Michael; you are in a place that doesn't tell lies or make jokes. Give the Lord a GREAT performance!
