Music now adays....

I can honestly say I have a passion for music. Be it country, rock, blues, hip hop, etc...music can relate to any circumstance that you might be facing in life. I believe there is a song about everything known in this world, from being in love to losing it, not having a job to hitting the lottery. Even though I appeal to every genre, the majority of the songs and albums I have are from hip hop, r&b, soul and rap; which brings me to my post...music (in the sense of those genre mentioned) is awful to the point of sheer maddness.

Need examples? After a day at the office, I normally come home and watch PTI (Pardon The Interruption) on ESPN. A show where two sports casters debate about the sports topics of the day. The show mostly deals with sports, and is known to dip into pop culture with some of its stories. On the show yesterday, Tony Kornheiser proceed to say "I am going to "whoop this trick" in toss up, (A game where the debates are about a single issue and they discuss it). Whoop this trick is a reference to the movie and song from the "Hustle and Flow" movie, which has a song entitled whoop that trick. I bet you can guess what the song is about. Rap music (different from hiphop) is becoming so degrading that it hurts me to even listen to it. This is from a person who's first rap album was Snoop's "Doggstyle" and Onyx "Bacdafucup". Not to suggest that those songs on those albums are any better, they were just during a time when violence wasn't a mainstay in rap.

If you turn on local hiphop and r&b stations, you will probably hear Webbie "Gimme that", Ying Yang Twinz "Whiper Song" and 50 Cent "Just a lil bit". It pains me that our youth has to hear these songs on the radio 24/7, then when they turn on the television they see the videos with clad dressed woman shaking it and shaking it well. R&B isn't any better, with groups that barely are even teens are talking about making love and having sex...you can't be serious??!! The other day, prime time TV I turned to BET to see a naked (also the title of the song and album) Marcus Houston. I mean come on! I don't want to see a naked man on the TV during this hour!

What happened to the Boyz II Men appeal of singing and looking good while doing it? I remember wanting to dress like them cause they looked good. But now, its designer everything, doo-rags and utter "crap dress".

Im feelin you hard on this one man. I cant stand the way rap is going. I find myself listening more and more to music other than what I grew up listening to because I just cant believe some of the shit thats comin out of these peoples mouths. Not to mention I worked for GEAR UP and saw this music polluting our youths minds up front. Its rediculous and its only going to get worse. Im glad to see that im not the only one experiencing disgust about what is polluting todays youth. Oh yeah...before I forget...Marcus Houston is what I like to refer to as 'Hella-gay' or 'Hella-Homo.' Both do equal justice in letting the world know that much more about marcus houston.
